Activity based workflow is adequate for relatively linear processes that involve moving one or two electronic forms between individuals or systems - for example, processing an invoice or a purchase order.  Stateframe® is a more flexible solution and is capable of controlling business processes that involve the complex interaction of large numbers of tasks, documents and people.

Case management tools have existed for a while and have limited collaborative workflow simply being able to distribute tasks and documents on an ad-hoc basis without any pre-defined process control. Stateframe® combines case management facilities with a very powerful process management engine to provide the best of both worlds.
